The Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships – which takes place at the NIA from 4-9 March -  has once again attracted an impressive entry list to reflect the tournament’s status as one of the five Premier events on the MetLife BWF World Superseries circuit for 2014.

Leading domestic entries include, Chris and Gabby Adcock in the mixed doubles.

The Adcocks - who became England’s second ever Superseries winners with victory in Hong Kong in November - are currently fifth in the world rankings. They’re aiming to become England’s first All England champions since Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms won the mixed doubles title in 2005, but face tough opposition with 16 of the world’s top 20 pairs entered.

Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei and Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon, the youngest ever world champion in women’s singles, will be out to make their mark in the singles events.

Lee is looking to recapture the title he last won in 2011, but defending champion Chen Long will be looking to retain the title for China.

Three-time World Junior champion Intanon is targeting her second Superseries title, but will face strong Chinese  trio trio Li Xuerui, Wang Yihan and Wang Shixian, all former All England champions, as well as Koreans Sung Ji Hyun and Yeon Ju Bae and India’s Saina Nehwal.

As you may be aware we’re undergoing some really exciting changes at the NIA. We’re currently redeveloping the arena and bringing in better hospitality, food, drink, seating and a raft of other fantastic improvements. We’re staying open during the redevelopment period and we’ll be able to officially open the new NIA in late2014. In the meantime, we’re doing all we can to minimise any disruption to events. There will be some changes to our food and parking, we’ll get in touch closer to the time to give exact details. For more info visit www.futurenia.co.uk
