James Taylor arrives back in Birmingham to perform at The NIA Academy on Sunday 5 July 2009. Tickets are priced £45.00 plus booking and transaction fee.
The tour is expected to see James celebrate the release of his brand new Covers album which sees the legendary singer / songwriter collaborate with musical heavyweights Luis Conte, Michael Landau, Jeff Babko, Lou Marini, Arnold McCuller, Jimmy Johnson, David Lasley, Walt Fowler, Andrea Zonn, Kate Markowitz, Steve Gadd and Larry Goldings. Tracks on the album include Oh, What A Beautiful Mornin’, Hound Dog, Knock On Wood, Why Baby Why, Summertime Blues and (I’m A) Road Runner plus many more.
Speaking about the album James said – “An album of other people’s music is something I’ve wanted to do for years. I’ve enjoyed performing these songs over the years but to record them live in a room with these incredible musicians was just extraordinary.”Following the release of Covers, James has been nominated for two Grammy Awards - Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Male Pop Vocal for the cover of Wichita Lineman.
Over the course of his career, James Taylor has sold over 40 million albums, and won over 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards as well as five Grammy Awards. In 2000, Taylor was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame.
