The Four Tops and The Temptations are bringing their Motown sound to Birmingham in 2012! Plus, they’ll be joined by special guests kings of Seventies R & B disco Tavares and seminal sixties girl band The Crystals.
With Soul and R&B enjoying a dazzling comeback, this tour promises to get several generations together, shaking hips and singing along to the timeless sound of some truly irresistible classics. A few titles? “Reach Out (I’ll be there)” and “It’s All In The Game” from the Four Tops; “My Girl” and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone” from The Temptations; “Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel” and “More Than A Woman” from Tavares and “Da Doo Ron Ron” and “Then He Kissed Me” from The Crystals. And these are likely to be just the encores after an endless string of unforgettable hits.
Originally from Detroit in Michigan, The Four Tops have managed to stick out from the rest of the Motown roster over the years, they moved to LA in the early Seventies and continued playing with no change in their line up until 1997, when Lawrence Payton passed away. The current line up includes original founder member Abdul “Duke” Fakir. Also from Detroit were The Temptations, one of Motown’s most influential and successful recording artists; across five decades, they’ve sold tens of millions of albums, spacing from R & B to funk, disco, soul and even adult contemporary music. Founder and original member Otis Williams is still currently in the band, carrying its important legacy.
This promises to be an unmissable show for all Motown fans that will make you dance, sing, laugh and cry from the bottom of your very soul. So, what you waiting for? Reach out and get your tickets to see all four amazing groups now!
