For more than 20 years the Birmingham Military Tattoo has thrilled audiences with world class performers joining local groups to create a three-hour spectacle. All the traditional elements of the Tattoo are present again this year - from the Massed Bands, Parade of Standards, Field Gun Competition, the Lone Piper to the Spectacular Grand Finale.

The organisers have managed to secure bands from Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The Band of the King's Division, in their scarlet jackets, will join with the Band, Pipes and Drums of the Royal Irish Regiment to represent Great Britain, whilst the Band of the Polish Guard, the Royal Netherlands Army Reserve Band and the Royal Swedish Navy Cadet Band will represent the international musical community at this spectacular event. Representing the best of British musical youth will be the National Youth Marching Band which brings together many individual youth marching bands from across the UK.

Complementing the Massed Bands, this year’s Tattoo also features many displays that are sure to appeal to all the family. A special commemorative display will mark the 150 Year Anniversary of the Cadet Force, whilst the Inter-Service Field Gun Competition will carry on a tradition which draws its origins from the siege of Ladysmith during the Boer War.

In addition, the British Flyball Association Dog Competition will give an excellent display of obedience and skill, whilst the United Kingdom Disco Dancers will impress everyone, both young and old, with their energetic performance.

This year’s Tattoo will culminate in a Spectacular Grand Finale featuring the Massed Bands and special guest appearances by the British Tenor Tim Pitman and the UK's new singing sensation Rebecca Robinson. The event would not be complete without the ever-popular Closing Ceremony which will feature the Royal Air Force Cosford Queen’s Colour and Escort, the traditional Land of Hope and Glory, the Evening Hymn and the Lone Piper.

Birmingham Tattoo Producer Norman Rogerson MBE said: “We have managed to secure some fantastic bands and other performers for this year’s Tattoo. We have tried to ensure there is something for everyone and, with only two performances to choose from, tickets are already selling quickly so reserve your place soon at this spectacular event.”
