The 6th and 7th of February 2010, will be the 19th Birmingham Games, and since 1992 many fine Athletes from these shores and abroad have taken part in the Games. The Games are now based at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena, internationally acclaimed as one of the World’s finest Indoor venues which has hosted World and European Championships.

Last year’s Games provided immense public interest with the appearance of Dwain Chambers, the sporting press were here in force with 19 representatives who viewed two days sport which contained several performances superior to the Full International held in Glasgow the same weekend.

World and European Champions have taken part in these Games, Ireland’s World Champion Dervil O’Rourke and European Champion David Gillick. World Bronze medallist Jenny Meadows, European Indoor Champion Dwain Chambers, Olympic bronze’s Katherine Merry and Kelly Sotherton, Olympians Donna Fraser and Tom Parsons are some of the internationals who have competed here.

In addition to the British and Irish competitors the Games are attracting a strong International entry, and in last year’s Games two Danish competitors set National records in the arena, as well as the Danes we have had competitors from Sweden, France, Belgium and Malta, and with America and Jamaica due here in 2012 it is possible that Athletes from further afield may wish to check out our great city and the local Athletics meetings in Birmingham.

MARK LEWIS-FRANCIS
2004 Olympic Gold Medallist (back following injury and seeking to establish his international status)
HARRY AKINES-AYREETY
European U23 Champion, former World Junior and Youth Champion.
PAUL BRIZZELL (IRELAND)
Represented Ireland in the 2006 European Championships.
GREG RUTHERFORD
Silver Medallist European Championships, and the former European Junior Champion.
JAMIE BLUNDELL
UK (23) and Junior Champion.

3rd world junior championships 400 hurdles.
KATHERINE ENDICOTT
Ran in the sprint relay in the World Championships and European Indoor Championships

Competed in the World Junior Championships and the European U23 and Junior championships.
