The first showpiece event in the British Basketball Calendar returns to the National Indoor Arena on Sunday 17 January 2010, as the BBL Cup Final is contested between 2004 champions, the Sheffield Sharks, and the Cheshire Jets.

The Jets reached the Cup Final first, as they won their two leg Semi Final over the Marshall MK Lions with an aggregate score of 167-159. The Sharks then followed suit, as the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders crashed out of the competition, the Sharks beating them in the Semi Final by a total of 167 points to 152, across the two legs.

It is the eighth year in a row that the game has been played at The NIA and the venue, which is now synonymous with the biggest games in British hoops, has produced some classic finals.

Cup Final Day is one of the most eagerly-anticipated during the BBL season as some of the stars of the British game lay it all on the line in pursuit of this coveted piece of silverware in the illustrious surroundings of Birmingham’s NIA.

The main event will be accompanied by the 2010 BBL Dunk Contest - one of the most prestigious individual accolades for the league’s highest-flyers - as well as the breathtaking ‘Crazy Dunkers’, who are flying in from France especially to WOW fans at the BBL Cup Final with their acrobatic dunking display.

As a precursor to the big game, the crucial BBL Trophy game between the Worthing Thunder and the Manchester Magic will also be played; and interspersing all of this are performances from the BBL Babes and mascots.
