Following its overwhelming success last year, BADMINTON England are proud to announce that the Yehlex Birmingham Badminton Bonanza will once again be returning to the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham this summer. It is sponsored by sporting goods retailer, Yehlex (UK), and supported by The NIA and Birmingham City Council.
The event will be held on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 August 2010, and entries are now being taken for members and non-members of BADMINTON England.
The Yehlex Birmingham Badminton Bonanza aims to provide a fun but competitive atmosphere for people playing badminton at a social level, and an increased level of competition for players competing in leagues and tournaments. To help group players of a similar standard, entries are separated into SOCIAL or LEAGUE categories. Members of any National Squad (in any country) are not permitted to enter.
The tournament will be played in groups, so each player/pair is guaranteed more than one game, and the emphasis is placed on enjoying playing badminton whilst meeting competitors from all over the country. Events range from Under 13 through to Over 50 age groups, and include Men’s and Women’s Singles, Men’s and Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles There are prizes for winner and runners-up in every event. Friends and family can come and offer their support for just £1 for the whole weekend.
Over 600 players joined us in 2009, and were able to not only play in the same arena as Yonex All England stars and World Champions, but many also enjoyed coaching and tuition from former Korean National Champion and England Coach, Lee Jae Bok. There was also training from the badminton Technical Officials, details about volunteering opportunities, personalised action shots, and merchandise from the event sponsor, Yehlex (UK). This year promises to be even better.
If you can pick up a racket…you can pick up an entry form. It really is that easy!
